Lesson Transcript

Hi, everybody!
Do you know how to say “Bye” in Russian? In this lesson, you'll learn three parting expressions in Russian.
Let’s start with the easiest one.
До свидания.
[slowly] До свидания.
This means "Goodbye" in Russian.
This is a formal expression. It literally means "till we meet again," but this doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to meet again any time soon. The first word means "till we meet again," and the second word means "see you."
If you want to be more casual, there's a different phrase you should use.
Пока.
[slowly] Пока.
This means "Goodbye" in Russian.
This is a casual expression, so you can use it with your close friends.
If you know that you are going to see the person again, here's a phrase for you.
до встречи!
[slowly] до встречи!
This means "See you soon!" in Russian.
До встречи literally means "till the next meeting." This phrase implies that you are going to see this person again.
Let's wrap up this lesson by recapping what you've learned. Listen to the words and repeat after me.
