John: Hi everyone, and welcome back to RussianPod101.com. I'm John.

John: This is Must-know Russian Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 13. In this lesson, you'll learn about slang verbs.
John: Let's learn some words that describe relationships between people. Mainly, they refer to couples and are used among young people.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you'll be learning in this lesson are...

John: Karina, what's our first expression?
Karina: замутить, мутить (zamutit', mutit')
John: This literally means "roil (make a liquid muddy)," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to start a relationship, to organize or do."

John: Use this expression when you want to say you're planning something cool or starting a relationship with somebody.

John: This literally means "sign," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "promise."

John: Use this expression when assuring someone that you will definitely do or not do something. More often, it’s used with the latter.
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.

John: "I didn't promise you to go shopping."
Karina: [NORMAL] Я не подписывался на поход по магазинам с тобой.
John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Karina: отфутболить (atfutbolit')
John: It literally means "to football back, to bounce back." As a slang expression, it means "to send off” or “to get rid of."

John: Use this expression when you want to say that somebody got rid of something (refers to personal relationships between people, not to things or situations).
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.

John: "A minute hadn't passed, and he was rejected by her."

John: Which literally means "chick." As a slang expression, it means "hottie” or “girl."
