I like this speaker/instructor for she slows down and sounds out the words and explains how they are used.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for your question.
Some of the basic expressions and phrases appear in our other series as well,
so if you decide to proceed, you’ll most likely hear them again.
For example if it’s about self introductions, these lessons have them too:
https://www.russianpod101.com/lesson/basic-bootcamp-1-self-introductionsbasic-greetings/
https://www.russianpod101.com/lesson/learn-russian-conversations-with-animation-absolute-beginner-1-self-introduction-in-russian/

We hope that you’re enjoying our series!
Cheers,
Lena

Hello Sandeep R,

‘меня зовут светлана’ literally means “I am called Svetlana”.

“меня” means “I am (called) by someone”

hmm I haven’t tried to go any further because I have a question. Am I supposed to be able to fluently say or even remember these words before moving on to the next lesson? Because I’m even stuck on keeping “its a pleasure to meet you ” in Russian of course in my head. (((
oh well, maybe writing and saying it another few dozen times will make it stick
))))

the video says that ‘меня зовут светлана’ means ‘myself to be called svetlana’.
but searching online, I found out that ‘меня’ is the genitive form for ‘я’, which means ‘my’ .Also ‘зовут’ means name.
Then why did she say ‘myself to be called’ if the exact meaning is ‘my name is’?
