In today's lesson we talked about nostalgy.

What do you miss the most from your childhood?

Hello Nancy Sharp,

Your story is amazing 😄

"Мы познакомились с мужем, когда я играла на скрипке в группе. Мой муж предложил носить мой музыкальный инструмент к моему автомобилю."

Hello Jamala,

We have Grammar cases in Russian.

You can find more information about it here:

https://www.russianpod101.com/lesson/introduction-to-russian-3-introduction-to-russian-grammar/?lp=69

That's why this lesson shows how we should change the number 7 in these cases.

Please, let us know if you have any questions.

Hello. There is thing I need to clarify about grammar. I have read the pdf notes and comments, but I still do not understand. Why we use "god" in datelniy, tvoritelniy and predlojniy padeji in declension of number 7. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Mary G,

Rule is simple.

"Лет" is Genitive plural for "год". So in any case after any numeral in Genitive case it will be "лет" (except 1).

Next is...From 2-4 in Accusative case it will be...

2 - два года

3- три года

4- четыре года.

However, from 5 and so on in Accusative case it will be "лет"

5- пять лет

6- шесть лет

10- десять лет

Why does the word лет (year/years) change when the number 7 is declined - лет годами годах ?

I understand the case declension, but I do not understand why they are not all лет, летам, лет, летами, летах......

Семи лет

Семи годам

Семь лет

Семью годами

Семи годах

Семь лет ("seven years")

Семи лет

Семи годам

Семь лет

Семью годами

Семи годах

Hello Jeanine, sorry for late reply.

The word "точно" in affirmative answers expresses your confirmation, consent.

For example: "Это твой дом?" Is it your house?

"Точно". Right.

You just confirmed some information. It can be translated into English as: "yes", "right", "that`s it".

But this word has other meanings, if you use it not as an answer on question.

The word "именно " in affirmative answers also shows strong confirmation. This word stresses, emphasizes some information. It can be translated into English as "exactly".

For example; "Это твой дом?" Is it your house?

"Именно". Exactly.

"Именно она говорит правду". "It is her who is telling the truth".

In this sentence you emphasize the confirmation, that this house is yours, not someone`s else, that she is telling the truth, not other people.
