dialects

Postby russian_guy » February 1st, 2010 2:30 am

hey just wondering what are some main things to point out in the dialects of russian?
i find that when i talk to my friend ilya he corrects me when i say у меня хорошо
but my friend bella says that it is correct and i shouldn't say я хорошо.
so what are some other differences? is there certain vocabulary words we need to know?

Well, the examples you gave are both correct IF you use them as the answers to the matching questions. Here are the examples of how to use the phrases "Я хорошо" and "У меня хорошо":
--Ты как? --Я хорошо.
You can see the simple pronoun "ты" in the question, which requires the pronoun "я" in the answer.
--Как у тебя дела? -- У меня всё хорошо.
Here you have "у тебя" in the question, which requires "у меня" in the answer.
So just mirror the question replacing the pronoun.
