| Here is how you write the uppercase ы (y). |
| Start with a slanting vertical line left, draw a half-circle counterclockwise, a short diagonal upright, and another slanting vertical line with a right hook for ы. |
| And here's the lowercase ы (y). |
| Write ы (y) exactly like its uppercase form, just smaller. |
| Because no Russian words start with this letter, you won't see it capitalized at the beginning of a word in a sentence. However, an uppercase version exists for writing in all capital letters, such as on billboards or street signs. |
