Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric.
Elena: And I'm Elena.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Russian about having dinner with friends. Pasha is eating at a restaurant with his friends. He posts an image of his food, and leaves this comment-
Elena: Ужин с лучшими друзьями.
Eric: Meaning "Dinner with my best friends." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

Eric: Let's break this down. First is a word meaning "dinner."
Elena: Ужин (Uzyn)
Eric: This is a masculine noun and it has three meanings. First, food, prepared for the evening meal. Second, a meal taken in the evening. And third, a banquet or formal meal in honor of a person or event. The origin of this word is unclear, but some linguists suppose it’s connected with the Latin words "southern" and "midday." Eric: His girlfriend's high school friend, Оксана (Oksana), uses an expression meaning "Hope you’re having a good time!"

Elena: Хорошо вам посидеть!
Eric: Use this expression to wish someone a good time at a cafe, restaurant, or some other meeting with friends or relatives that involves a meal.
