John: The word "fig" has different forms of usage, when it is either grouped with other words or changes its form and becomes an adjective or verb. "Fig" itself means "nothing," but let's see how the meaning changes depending on the phrase.

John: This literally means "to fig out," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be at a loss."
