John: Hi everyone, and welcome back to RussianPod101.com. I'm John.

John: This is Must-know Russian Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 14. In this lesson, you'll learn more slang verbs.
John: Here you will learn some useful verbs to describe the negative situations.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you'll be learning in this lesson are...
Karina: зацикливаться/зациклиться (zatsyklivatsa/zatsyklitsa)
Karina: раздраконить (razdrakonit')
Karina: кошмарить (koshmarit')
Karina: тупить (tupit')
John: Karina, what's our first expression?
Karina: зацикливаться/зациклиться (zatsyklivatsa/zatsyklitsa)
John: This literally means "to get stuck," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to get caught in an endless loop."

John: Use this expression when someone is overly focused on something.

Karina: раздраконить (razdrakonit')
John: This literally means "to pull away the dragon," but when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to make angry."
Karina: [SLOW] раздраконить [NORMAL] раздраконить

John: Use this expression when you want to say that somebody is making another person angry on purpose, usually over a long period of time.
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.
Karina: [NORMAL] Он раздраконил шефа прямо перед совещанием. [SLOW] Он раздраконил шефа прямо перед совещанием.
John: "He made his boss mad just before the meeting."
Karina: [NORMAL] Он раздраконил шефа прямо перед совещанием.
John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Karina: кошмарить (koshmarit')
John: This literally means "terrorize." As a slang expression, it means "harass” or “push around."
Karina: [SLOW] кошмарить [NORMAL] кошмарить

John: Use this expression when you want to say that somebody is pushing around another person or company. (It’s usually associated with criminals who extort money.)
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.

John: "They are harassing his business for the second year."
Karina: [NORMAL] Они кошмарят его бизнес второй год.
John: Okay, what's the last expression?
Karina: тупить (tupit')
John: Which literally means "to be stupid." As a slang expression, it means "to be slow on something” or “to be spaced out."
Karina: [SLOW] тупить [NORMAL] тупить

John: Use this expression when you want to say that somebody is being slow or doesn't understand what's going on.
