John: This is Must-know Russian Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 10. In this lesson, you'll learn more slang expressions used in blogs.
John: These words are some of the newest in the Russian language. They are also used mainly as reactions to blog posts.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
John: The expressions you'll be learning in this lesson are...
Karina: развидеть (razvidet')
Karina: ванговать (vangovat')
Karina: крипота (kripota)
Karina: переобуться в прыжке (pereobut'sya v pryzhke)
John: Karina, what's our first expression?
Karina: развидеть (razvidet')
John: This literally means "to unsee."
Karina: [SLOW] развидеть [NORMAL] развидеть
John: Listeners, please repeat.

John: Use this expression when you want to say you wish you hadn’t seen something, because it's horrible, disgusting, shocking, etc.
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.
Karina: [NORMAL] Как мне теперь это развидеть? [SLOW] Как мне теперь это развидеть?
John: "How can I unsee it now?"
Karina: [NORMAL] Как мне теперь это развидеть?
John: Okay, what's the next expression?
Karina: ванговать (vangovat')
John: This literally means "to be Vanga." This refers to the famous Grandmother Vanga known for making correct predictions about worldwide events. When it's used as a slang expression, it means "to try to predict."
Karina: [SLOW] ванговать [NORMAL] ванговать

John: Use this expression when you want to say that somebody is trying to predict something without any facts.
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.

Karina: [NORMAL] Ну давайте ещё повангуем!
John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Karina: крипота (kripota)
John: This literally means "creepy."
Karina: [SLOW] крипота [NORMAL] крипота

John: Use this expression when you want to say that something is creepy.
John: Now, let's hear an example sentence.
Karina: [NORMAL] Вот это крипота! [SLOW] Вот это крипота!
John: "This is kinda creepy!"
Karina: [NORMAL] Вот это крипота!
John: Okay, what's the last expression?
Karina: переобуться в прыжке (pereobut'sya v pryzhke)
John: Which literally means "to change shoes while jumping." As a slang expression, it means "to change your opinion."

John: Use this expression when you want to say that somebody has changed their views suddenly to do somebody a favor.
