Lesson Transcript

Привет Всем. С Вами Светлана. Hi everybody! I’m Svetlana.
Welcome to RussianPod101.com’s Русский язык за три минуты. The fastest, easiest, and most fun way to learn Russian.
In the last lesson, we learned some words used when apologizing in Russian, including Извините and Простите. In this lesson we are going to learn numbers in Russian.
Yes, numbers, Числа, from one to ten. And you are going to learn them in only three minutes - Три минуты!
Are you ready? Let’s start!
Один. (1)

Great job!
What comes before один? Do you know? It is Zero: Ноль.
[slowly] ноль.
You don’t have any more excuses! Now you can give friends your cell phone number in Russian!
Let’s try together.
We’ll use the phrase Мой номер телефона, which means “My telephone number is:”
[slowly] Мой номер телефон.
Мой номер телефон
восемь девять два четыре пять
семь один три шесть десять. .
Can you read it by yourself?
89245
7136 10
Perfect!
Now it’s time for Svetlana’s Tips.
Numbers are used everywhere. Usually when Russians say phone numbers, they combine the single numbers into tens and hundreds. But if it is a short number that contains less than 6 numerals, it is usually pronounced as separate digits. Learn your numbers well, so you can be ready for real life situations!
Do you know the Russian word for a hundred? It is very simple and we’ll learn it very soon. In the meantime, your job is to practice the numbers we studied in this lesson, from odin to decyat’!!
Пока пока!! До скорого! See you soon.

Hello P Virmoux-Jackson,

No, some sample sentences are quite difficult. They just illustrate how you can use the word.

Hello Хосе,

They are synonyms.

число means "number" (mathematical object used to count)

номер means "number", but also can mean "room", "item".

Hi!

What's the difference between the word числа and номер? Is just that one is plural and the other one singular, respectively?

Hello Imsure1200q,

"Menya" is derived from "I" and is in Genitive or Accusative case. "Moy" is just "my".

I thought when you say "My Telephone Number", the russian form is "Menya nomer telefon". Why is it "Moy nomer telefon" ?
