Lesson Transcript

Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to answer this question and tell someone something about what you’re writing.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Что ты делаешь? (Chto ty delayesh'?)
Я пишу в моём дневнике. (Ya pishu v moyom dnevnike.)
Once more with the English translation.
Что ты делаешь? (Chto ty delayesh'?)
“What are you doing?”
Я пишу в моём дневнике. (Ya pishu v moyom dnevnike.)
“I'm writing my journal.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing?”
That's:
Что ты делаешь? (Chto ty delayesh'?)
Listen to it again:
Что ты делаешь?, Что ты делаешь? (Chto ty delayesh'?, Chto ty delayesh'?)
“What are you doing?”.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Я пишу [object]. (Ya pishu [object].)
“I'm writing [object].”
For example:
“I'm writing my journal.”
Я пишу в моём дневнике., Я пишу в моём дневнике. (Ya pishu v moyom dnevnike., Ya pishu v moyom dnevnike.)
