Becky: Welcome to 3-Minute Russian Season 1, Lesson 12 - What are you doing? In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask what someone is doing in Russian.
Body
Becky: Here's the informal way to ask 'What are you doing?' in Russian.
Elena: [Normal] Что ты делаешь?(Shto ty delaesh?)
Becky: First is a word meaning 'what'
Elena: [Normal] что [Slow] что (shto)
Becky: Next is the word meaning 'you'
Elena: [Normal] ты [Slow] ты(ty)
Becky: Last is the word meaning 'are doing'
Elena: [Normal] делаешь [Slow] делаешь(delaesh )
Becky: Note the rising intonation. Listen again to the informal question meaning 'What are you doing?'
Elena: [Slow] Что ты делаешь? [Normal] Что ты делаешь?
Becky: Now, imagine you're speaking to a stranger. Here's the formal way to ask, 'What are you doing?'
Elena: [Normal] Что вы делаете?(Shto vy delayete?)
Becky: First is a word meaning 'what'
Elena: [Normal] что [Slow] что (shto)
Becky: Next is the word meaning 'you'
Elena: [Normal] вы [Slow] вы(vy)
Becky: Last is the word meaning 'are doing'
Elena: [Normal] делаете [Slow] делаете(delayete)

Elena: [Normal] учусь [Slow] учусь(uchus')
Becky: Listen again to the response, 'I am studying.'
Elena: [Slow] Я учусь. [Normal] Я учусь.
Becky: Here's a response meaning, 'Nothing.'
Elena: [Normal] Ничего.(Nichevo.)
Becky: This expression has only one word meaning 'Nothing.'
Elena: [Normal] Ничего. [Slow] Ничего.(nichevo)
Becky: Listen again to the response, 'Nothing.'
Elena: [Slow] Ничего. [Normal] Ничего.
Cultural Insight
Becky: Now it's time for a quick cultural insight.
Elena: If you don't feel like giving an explanation of what you are doing, you can just say Ничего особенного, а что? (Nichevo asobennava. A shto?) which means "Nothing special. Why? (why are you asking). It is ok to use this phrase with friends and people you know. This phrase is quite polite.

Regarding the keyboard: are you looking for an actual keyboard or an App?

If the first one, then please check some online stores. I'm pretty sure they have Cyrillic keyboard or stickers what you can stick to your actual keyboard. Then just check your device's language settings.


If you're using a tablet or smartphone, I'd recommend Google keyboard.
