Learn Russian with RussianPod101.com! You are in beautiful Russia with your wife and you want to do something special with her while you’re there. You decide to take her out to a nice romantic Russian restaurant. When you get there, you tell the waitress in Russian, “We would like to have dinner.” She replies in Russian, “The restaurant is pretty full, but I think there is a table by the window.” Unfortunately, your wife can see from across the crowded room that the window is broken. So your wife asks the waitress in Russian, “What about the table to the left of that one?” The waitress looks across the floor and replies in Russian, “I’m sorry, but that seat is occupied by a couple with reservations.” Shooting you a very unforgiving look, she asks the waitress again in Russian, “So the only free table you have is between the broken window and the toilet?!” The waitress apologetically replies in Russian, “Yes ma’am. That table over near the window is our only free table.” Because it is so busy in the Russian restaurant, this is your only choice, so you take it. You can tell your wife is displeased when she mumbles in Russian, “If I had booked the table, we wouldn’t be sitting between the broken window and the toilet.” Next time, you’ll remember to call the Russian restaurant ahead of time to book a table…and FAR from the window!
