Он концертировал во Франции, Италии Швейцарии, Бельгии, Америке. Некоторое время Скрябин преподавал в Московской консерватории, однако считал это только средством незначительного заработка, большую часть времени отвлекающим его от творчества. Начало 20-го века принесло революционные перемены в политическую и общественную жизнь России. Наиболее яркое отражение эти перемены нашли именно в музыке Скрябина. В начале 1900-х гг Кандинский путешествует по странам Европы (Италия, Франция, Швейцария и др). Пишет в это время в основном пейзажи, используя цветовые диссонансы, постепенно вытесняя игрой цветовых пятен и линий образы реальной действительности. Обращается к русской сказочной, былинной старине ("Русская красавица в пейзаже", "Русская деревня на реке с ладьями", "К городу"). Написанная в 1903 году картина "Синий всадник" – переход от реализма к новому направлению в живописи, можно сказать, начало цикла абстрактных работ Кандинского. Его работы – не рисование, а отражение мыслей на холсте – ярких и кажущихся хаотичными, как зто свойственно неординарным личностям. С 1915 г живет в Москве.
